Mitigation of turbulent noise sources by riblets

چکیده

A feasibility study is presented on the application of riblets to suppress turbulent pressure sources leading a reduction in generation aerofoil self-noise. It shown that can reduce skin friction as well turbulence intensity inside boundary layer. In addition, near-wall structures were found be dissipated quite rapidly when crossing surface. (1) slightly wall fluctuating power spectral density level at low and high frequency ranges, but cause an increase mid range, (2) lateral coherence length scale across large range. As result, have potential trailing edge noise regions. The fundamental mechanism by which layer investigated studying spatio-temporal evolution spots, are commonly regarded building blocks this paper two mechanisms proposed. First, enhanced momentum achieved becalmed region each spot will lead overall obtained spots merge downstream. Second, internal rear part reduced directly re-laminarisation effect.

Drag reduction by riblets.

The interaction of the overlying turbulent flow with riblets, and its impact on their drag reduction properties are analysed. In the so-called viscous regime of vanishing riblet spacing, the drag reduction is proportional to the riblet size, but for larger riblets the proportionality breaks down, and the drag reduction eventually becomes an increase. It is found that the groove cross section A(...

Noise generation by turbulent flow in ducts

The aim of this work is to estimate the sound power generated by a turbulent flow in a duct from the knowledge of mean quantities which can be computed with a K-e turbulence model when only the plane wave can propagate, i.e., when the characteristic frequency of the turbulence is low. It does turn out to be possible for the simplest configuration of a duct free of internal obstruction. The resu...

Towards Large Eddy Simulations of Turbulent Drag Reduction Using Sinusoidal Riblets

A new modification to the drag reduction method using riblets is proposed, which consists of adding a sinusoidal variation to the riblet shape in spanwise direction. It is anticipated that more significant drag reduction will be achieved with sinusoidal riblets due to an oscillatory spanwise component added to the mean flow. First, Large Eddy Simulations of conventional riblet geometry consisti...

Mitigation Approaches for Stationary Sources

y Available control technologies and strategies include direct PM2.5 reduction technologies such as fabric filters (baghouses), electrostatic precipitators (ESPs), and diesel particulate filters (DPFs). Once installed, these strategies range in cost-effectiveness from as little as $48/ton PM2.5 to $685/ton PM2.5 (2010$) or more, depending on the source category. However, they also may involve t...

Impulse Noise Mitigation for OFDM by Time-Frequency Spreading

This paper deals with the impulsive interferences in modern vehicles and assess the suitability of establishing invehicle wireless links replacing standard data cable bundles. According to our experiments, the standard UMTS Long Term Evolution (LTE) is highly affected by the impulse noise. We compare it with a novel 2D signal spreading method exploiting the orthogonal WalshHadamard sequences in...
